Undoubtedly, education is the most powerful tools to survive in present competitive world. Providing education is the responsibility of government in mostly all across the world. However it is unhidden from anybody that the government schools in Nepal are being almost useless and ineffective to provide the appropriate and time demanding education to pupils very beginning from the pre primary levels till the higher education. Due to unqualified teachers, inappropriate teaching methodology, insufficient educational materials, improper teaching environment, lack of interest of teachers to get improved their teaching method and upgrade themselves in present changing pace of world & environment, all the effort of government to provide quality education free of cost  to poor students in rural Nepal is really being worthless. Hence huge chunk of money that government is spending in this purpose have become waste since long duration of time. Hence, in the other hand private schools have taken it as a great opportunity to expand them by providing modern education through Montessori education system.

In developed countries, the evidence on the impact of school type on student performance is mixed. Researchers are also interested in finding out the effect of private school competition on educational outcomes. The evidence on this for developed countries is mixed as well. What is the effect in developing countries? There are not sufficient studies for developing countries to reach one conclusion. Using data from the survey of the Ministry of Education, Nepal-2005 for primary and pre primary education , this Project work attempts to seek answers to the above two issues for the case of rural Nepal. The first part of this study analyzes private and public school performance. The study adopts the tendency score matching technique to account for the selection bias problem. The second part of this Project work attempts to explore the impact of Montessori education in private school and need of implementation of same in public (government) school especially in rural Nepal. A dual measure of competition is also used where school is defined to face competition if there is more than one private school in the surrounding area of the sample public school. However, in this analysis, there exists an identification problem because private school enrollment is likely to be correlated with public school performance. To address this problem, the study uses whether the existence of Montessori education from the sample school as an instrument for number of private schools in the neighborhood.

In this project, I will be trying to pinpoint the major pitfall and feasibility to get improves education in public schools in rural Nepal. Almost 99% of government schools in Nepal are still following very traditional teaching method which was started in 1950s. In other hand huge number of private school in cities and towns are practicing the new teachings method with proper educational environment and educational materials. There is a huge discrepancy between the student from rural areas and urban areas due to unavailability of same opportunity Even though government is spending huge chunk of money to provide free education equally to rural and urban areas but guardian are not interested to send their kids to government school until and unless private school does not exists in the locality.

Hence, Montessori education method from pre primary level in all public schools in rural area and also in other area can be the one of the powerful tools to attract the students. And also will help to stop migration of population from rural areas to urban areas only for the purpose of good schools.
